Summer Volunteer Day: Restore Portland

IMG_1239.JPG

As a construction subtrade, we see how much waste is created at job sites. This is why we were so thrilled to have the opportunity to volunteer our time at Restore Portland this past weekend!

Restore Portland is a branch of Habitat for Humanity that takes donations - primarily extra building or construction materials - and then resells these items to the community, or repurposes them for Habitat for Humanity homes.

Our team had a great time working with the Restore manager, Phil, to sort through donations, organize sections of the store, and help price items. See more pictures below.

Below are some key facts and figures from 2018 that emphasize the importance of what Restore does for the environment, and to help provide affordable housing:

  • Restore donations were 7 Habitat for Humanity homes

  • They diverted 1.78 million tons of waste were diverted away from land fills

  • They received 47,324 donations

  • They made $4,302,824 in sales!

Ohm is committed to both helping the environment and giving back to community, and we look forward to finding more volunteer opportunities that help meet these goals!
